π How Health is Estimated
Battery health is proxied by measuring kWh from the grid to add 100% SOC. As the BMW i3 battery degrades, the BMS re-scales SOC to the reduced usable capacity β so a full charge draws fewer kWh over time. Lower numbers therefore indicate less remaining capacity. The BMW i3 60Ah has a ~22 kWh usable pack.
β οΈ Interpretation Notes
Very partial charges and top-off sessions can skew the per-100% metric. Sessions with <5% SOC added are excluded. The first months of data are skipped as a burn-in baseline; health is expressed relative to the earliest reliable data point, not factory-new capacity.
π Reading the Trend
A flat trend indicates stable, normal degradation. A gradual decline (fewer kWh per 100% SOC over time) reflects capacity loss. A sudden sharp drop may indicate a BMS recalibration event rather than real degradation.
